Our Story
Here's something wild to think about: when Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution: Ascended Heroes drops on January 30th, it'll be the first time my family experiences a major set launch together since we started collecting again.
Back in the 90s, I was that kid ripping Base Set packs at the local card shop. Fast forward to 2024, and I'm back - but this time with my own kids, tracking down cards for our 151 binder challenge. We're about 50 Pokémon in, and honestly? This whole journey has been incredible.
It all started with a simple pack of Pokemon cards. Our kids got interested in Pokemon, and like most parents, we dove in headfirst—especially Collector Dad, who was re-living his childhood of collecting. But something magical happened along the way—we all fell in love with it.
The thrill of opening that first pack together. The excitement of pulling a rare card. The joy of organizing our collection and watching it grow. Pokemon cards became more than just cardboard—they became family time, learning opportunities, and shared adventures.
When we combined our love of collecting with our passion for Disney parks, The Adventure Collectors was born. We wanted to document our journey, share our experiences, and create a community of families who understand that the best collections are the ones that bring people together.

What We Collect

Pokemon TCG
Pokemon TCG is where our kids are building their collections, learning about strategy, rarity, and the art of the trade. Collector R is hunting for Gengar cards, while Collector Sis dreams of completing her Eevee collection.
Disney Lorcana
Disney Lorcana bridges both worlds perfectly, combining the magic of Disney with the strategic fun of trading card games. Collector Sis is especially excited about Stitch cards, and we're all looking forward to exploring Winterspell together.
Sports Cards
Sports Cards hold a special place in my heart—baseball cards were my gateway into collecting back in the 90s. It's a nostalgia trip every time I open a pack, and I'm excited to share that passion as the kids grow.
Our Current Mission: Catch 'Em All
We're on a quest to collect all 151 original Pokemon - one card at a time. No booster boxes, no bulk buying. Just a pack-here-and-there family building memories together.
Where We Adventure
Disney Parks
We've explored Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando multiple times, and each visit reveals something new—a hidden detail, a perfect photo spot, or a magical moment we'll never forget. The best part? Combining Pokemon GO and Lorcana with our Disney trips. Catching Pokemon or pulling one of our missing set cards while exploring the parks? Yes, please. It's the perfect blend of our two favorite things.
Conventions & Card Shows
But adventures aren't just about theme parks. We hit up local card shops, attend conventions, and chase down Pokemon GO events—sometimes combining them with park visits for the ultimate adventure day. These experiences teach our kids about community, trading, and the joy of discovering new cards in unexpected places.

From local card shops to trading spots and nearby adventures, we're always discovering new places through our collecting hobby.
